Have you ever tried to visit a website that doesn’t use https:// and EEK come across this ominous warning – especially when using Google Chrome?! Well, friends – by the end of 2018 all websites WITHOUT an SSL certificate will show this warning in Google Chrome.
What now?!
And what is Https:// and SSL? Well according to the geeks at wikipedia – “HTTP Secure (HTTPS) is an extension of the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) for secure communication over a computer network, and is widely used on the Internet.[1][2] In HTTPS, the communication protocol is encrypted using Transport Layer Security (TLS), or formerly, its predecessor, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). The protocol is therefore also often referred to as HTTP over TLS,[3] or HTTP over SSL.”
All you need to know is that you will need one. And fast. Check with your hosting provider as many include a free SSL certificate with your hosting package. If not, they are relatively inexpensive to purchase.
